Her multi-ethnic heritage includes Irish and Italians as well as Swedish french, Ukrainians, and Italians. She has a twin sister named Jacqueline is a professional actor. When she was growing up, Jill became fluent in different languages such as Italian, French and Spanish. Her interest in acting around the age of 12. Her acting journey began in Toronto as part of David Cronenberg's Dead Ringers playing an escort with their twin sisters. She then studied improv comedy on Second City under Deb Kimmet. Two years later, she moved back to New York and signed a deal for the role of the Assistant District Attorney Claire Kincaid on the long playing hit TV series Law & Order. For the duration of her 3 year stint in the show, she was also doing feature film roles such as RoboCop 3 (1993), Ron Howard's The Paper (1994), as well as I Shot Andy Warhol (1996). She was a part of a handful of uninteresting films in the next months, and then landed a starring part in the 1999 miniseries uremberg together with Alec Baldwin. Autumn in New York followed the show, along with Exit Wounds. She landed the leading role in The NBC Crime comedy Crossing Jordan in 2001. In 2007, she was honored with the Gracie Allen Award for "Outstanding female actor in a drama" for her performance in the series. The actress got married to another actor Paolo Mastropietro in 2000. They have two children. She was honored in 2007 with the honor of being on Canada's Walk of Fame.
